Boostcamp gives young potentials a career boost

Especially for them I launched the Young Potential Boostcamp: an inspiring programme in which managers from a large number of leading companies coach 50 young female potentials - final-year students or career starters - to a higher level.”

Speed dating

The Boostcamp kicked off on 18 October. Several keynote speakers, including Isabel Carrion who discussed ‘IoT in companies’ and Laurence Schuurman who talked about ‘Female careers in ICT’, presented new insights and provided additional inspiration. Then came themoment for mentors and young potentials to get to know each other through speed dating. In small alternating groups they exchanged views on a career in ICT and brainstormed on relevant topics, such as the Internet of Things. At the end of the day, mentors and young potentials had found their perfect match.

A unique peek behind the scenes

“But this is just the beginning”, an enthusiastic Ingrid Gonnissen continues. “Now that our young potentials have found their mentor, they will have the chance to look over their mentors’ shoulder for one or two days. It’s a rare opportunity to observe, ask questions and learn as much as they can.”

Win-win

And that’s just the beginning! In the months that follow mentor and young potential meet on a regular basis. Together they discuss the possibilities of a career in ICT, they exchange experiences and trade thoughts on the impact of ICT on the workplace. In other words, a genuine win-win situation where both parties can learn from each other. Moreover, during a closing event on 12 February 2019 Ingrid Gonnissen will hand the young potentials a certificate which, hopefully, will serve them well in their brand-new career.
