News Generative AI in your company: insights from our expert
Since the introduction of ChatGPT at the end of 2022, generative AI has become indispensable, including in the workplace. Orange Business simplifies the use of AI within companies with the SaaS solution Live Intelligence. Jérémy El Aissaoui, Lead Artificial Intelligence at Orange Business, helps clients daily to get the most out of AI for their organisation. He tells us how.
What can Live Intelligence be used for?
“First and foremost, it’s a solution to shadow AI. Many employees copy and paste emails and other texts into tools like ChatGPT and Gemini. This poses a risk of data leaks, especially with free versions of these tools, as they use this data to further train their models. But people need generative AI in a modern work context. That’s why we offer Live Intelligence as a safe and sovereign alternative that’s easily integrated as a SaaS solution into any organisation.”
Sovereignty is high on the agenda for many organisations. How can Live Intelligence contribute?
“Live Intelligence is a solution designed to provide flexibility and data sovereignty. It allows customers to choose from multiple large language models — including OpenAI, Google, LightOn and Mistral — while ensuring data is processed securely within Europe, using Orange’s private infrastructure and trusted partner data centres.”
Are Live Intelligence’s options intended for different types of organisations?
“Live Intelligence adapts to diverse organisational needs through a single, flexible product. Customers can activate specific options based on their context, such as a sovereign space for regulated sectors like finance, life sciences and the public sector, or API access for other use cases. This approach ensures all companies benefit from generative AI while addressing security and compliance requirements.”
Why do you offer multiple large language models in Live Intelligence?
“Within Live Intelligence, organisations can access various large language models tailored to their specific needs — whether that’s performance, cost-efficiency or sovereignty. Given the rapid evolution and competition among providers, it’s important not to rely on a single model. Live Intelligence also makes switching between providers seamless, helping companies optimise for ethical standards, costs and ecological impact.”
What operational improvements has Live Intelligence achieved in organisations?
“Improvements are not always measurable in numbers. Live Intelligence is already used by tens of thousands of Orange employees, and this internal success led us to launch it externally. The productivity of our employees is visibly increasing – not only for general tasks such as summarising and rewriting texts, but also for very specific tasks where they can create dedicated AI agents. With Live Intelligence, anyone can create an agent with a specific purpose and access to specific data. They can also share that agent with their team.”
This approach ensures all companies benefit from generative AI while addressing security and compliance requirements.
What are the requirements for organisations that want to implement Live Intelligence?
“The requirements are minimal because it’s offered as a SaaS solution. The whole purpose is to lower the entry barrier to GenAI at enterprise scale. You can basically start tomorrow with a handful of licences. We can integrate Live Intelligence with the organisation’s single sign-on tool and link it to the company knowledge bases with dedicated connectors, such as Sharepoint. GenAI is not a technological revolution but an organisational transformation. By removing the friction on the tooling part, we allow businesses to focus on what matters: working on the quality of their data to feed the AI, onboarding and empowering employees, and leveraging GenAI as a strategic lever.”
How do you support organisations in implementing Live Intelligence?
“We support them end to end, from the identification of the right use cases for a pilot and the configuration of the agents, up to the change management programme to ensure employee adoption. We also aim to simplify AI governance tasks by providing unified dashboards to monitor usage and carbon footprint per department and per AI model. This is key to monitoring adoption and steering your change management programme accordingly, or identifying the most popular use cases in your company.”
Do you also give advice on regulations and ethical considerations?
“The responsible use of AI is a shared responsibility involving Orange Business, the language model providers and our customers. On our side, we may decide not to include some LLMs that we do not consider safe or ethical, but we also guide our customers with the choice of their use cases in order to make sure they can comply with existing regulations such as the European AI Act. The customer is still in the driving seat to analyse the risks and benefits of delegating specific tasks to an AI system. We are there to ensure they have all the information they need to make this decision safely.”
