News New 5G Lab in Brussels: experience a smarter future
Your gateway to 5G innovation
The Brussels 5G Lab is the third site of its kind in Belgium, after Antwerp and Liège. Its mission: to make 5G tangible, to test it and to accelerate its implementation.
Real-life use cases that matter
In Brussels you’ll discover seven real-world applications, grouped into four domains: healthcare, safety, smart buildings and smart cities.
Healthcare and safety
In healthcare, 5G enables faster and more efficient communication. That ranges from simply making it easier for people to talk to each other, to quicker responses to emergency calls.
Trulinco breaks down language barriers by using 5G to translate real-time video conversations. Patients and caregivers can communicate even if they don’t have a shared language. 5G can also simplify and reduce the cost of network management. Ascom has developed an ecosystem of devices and software that enhances communication and collaboration. The result? Faster responses, easier management and streamlined coordination.
In the security and surveillance sector, 5G ensures quicker and more reliable communication in critical situations. Thanks to ultra-low latency and network slicing, a company like Flash can offer innovative and dependable end-to-end communication solutions for the most critical environments and scenarios.
Smart city and smart building
At the 5G Lab in Brussels we demonstrate how everyday processes in cities and buildings can be improved. Did you know that an average of 22% of your water bill is caused by leaks? Shayp uses IoT and AI to detect them, and with new 5G developments this application will only become more effective.
5G is already indispensable in modern urban environments. It’s also an accelerator for other innovative technologies. Phoenix AI combines 5G with AI to optimise video surveillance and respond in real time to incidents such as fly-tipping or vandalism.
ASAsense offers a similar type of incident detection, based on sound. This enables the right service to act immediately, even in places without cameras. And innovation doesn’t stop there: our 5G Lab also presents smarter street lighting. Schréder is creating the lampposts of the future, equipped with sensors, cameras and charging points for electric vehicles.
Towards a safer and smarter future
The 5G Lab is a step towards real solutions that organisations can deploy today. It shows that 5G goes far beyond speed: it enables applications that make our healthcare, our cities and the way we work both smarter and safer. Orange Business is an integrator in this process: with companies and partners, ideas are tested and translated into practice.
