What is the procedure for connecting the building to the cable network?

Orange’s internet and TV services are delivered via the cable distribution networks of the operators Telenet and VOO. The building must be connected to the nearest distribution point via a connection cable.

If there is no distribution point in your street this means no cable network is currently available. Unfortunately the installation of TV and internet services is not possible in this case.

What is the procedure for connecting the building to the cable network?

During the intervention the technician verifies on-site whether your building is properly connected to the distribution point. There are different types of distribution points. They can be grey enclosures in your street (1) or poles in your street (2) or boxes mounted on a façade (3). Depending on your situation different actions will need to be carried out by the Orange technician or yourself.

The nearest distribution point

(1) Grey enclosures in the street (serving area interface)

(2) Poles in the street

(3) Boxes on façades

What does the Orange technician do:

  • On private properties he lays the connection cable between the distribution point and the building (for cable lengths up to 20 metres).
  • He connects* the connection cable with the distribution point.
  • He installs your services, checks the Wi-Fi reception in your building and configures the Wi-Fi on one of your devices e.g. your smartphone, tablet or PC.

What do I have to do::

  • Is this a new connection and are you a tenant? Then make sure you have your landlord’s consent for all the works the technician is qualified to carry out, such as drilling holes in walls.
  • Is this a new connection and the distribution point is a serving area interface (1) or pole in your street (2) (i.e. not attached to the building)? Then you must first install a conduit between the distribution point and the building. Please find detailed instructions below.

What doesn’t the Orange-technicus do :

  • Install and connect cables on public property
  • Install and connect cables in excess of 20m
  • In case of an underground cable: dig trenches or holes on private property.
  • In case of an underground cable: install a conduit between the distribution point and the building.

Good to know

The intervention costs for the installation and connection of the connection cable amount to €99.

Connection is free of charge for repairs and relocations.

* In some areas the connection cable is connected via the Fluvius network. Your presence is not required for the works. On his first visit the Orange technician will set a new appointment to complete the installation of your services. Click here for the municipalities in question.

** If your fixed services are already active the technician will propose sending an expert to draw up a free quote. We ask that you accept and sign this quote for the works that must be carried out. Payment takes place via your Orange invoice.
