Testimonials Dynamic SOC gives Veurne peace of mind with 24/7 monitoring
“For years, the administration of Veurne, a city of 12,000 inhabitants on the Belgian coast, has prioritised digitalisation,” says Didier Boydens. As the city’s ICT manager, he leads a team of four people. “We have always been able to invest sufficiently in cybersecurity. Still, we noticed that the threat level kept increasing. While a firewall and antivirus software used to be enough to keep cyber threats out, we were reaching the limits of our investment capacity and expertise.”
Looking for a security operations centre
Faced with increasingly complex cyber threats, Veurne joined forces with several other local authorities in the Westhoek region at the beginning of 2025 to find a solution that would partly relieve them of the burden. Boydens: “In practice, this meant looking for a security operations centre (SOC) that could monitor our IT environments 24/7 for cyber threats and handle incidents quickly and accurately.”
Transparent and competitive
After a thorough comparison of several providers, the city chose Dynamic SOC, a service from Orange Cyberdefense available through Orange Business. There were several reasons for this decision, Boydens explains. “First of all, they work with CrowdStrike in their SOC, a security solution that is usually too expensive for local authorities like ours. The helpdesk, where we can get support in Dutch and where they understand local habits, was also a major advantage.
“It also gave us peace of mind knowing that the Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) from Orange Business would support us if a breach were to occur,” he adds. “Finally, we were convinced by the transparent and competitive pricing and the fast and clear responses to our questions and concerns.”

Smooth implementation
Boydens praises the smooth implementation of Dynamic SOC. “Orange Business provided us with a detailed implementation plan that we could deploy ourselves using a script,” he says. “We were even able to install Micro-SOC Endpoint while our previous endpoint security solution was still active. That meant there was no vulnerable transition period.”
During the first week, the solution only operated in monitoring mode. “This allowed us to verify that no legitimate network access was blocked incorrectly. Orange Business supported us very well throughout this process,” says Boydens.
A major relief
The endpoint security solution from Orange Business has been operational in Veurne since the summer of 2025. “Previously, someone from our team had to check the security alerts from the workstations every day. We can now use that time much more efficiently,” Boydens explains. “Micro-SOC Endpoint detects all threats and neutralises them automatically before they can spread. For our small team, that is a major relief.”
Fast and high-quality support
Finally, Boydens is also satisfied with the collaboration with Orange Business because communication lines are short: “Our account manager is always there. Whenever we have a question, he makes sure we quickly receive a high-quality answer,” he says. “Unlike some experiences we’ve had with other providers in the past, the contact is always smooth and personal.”
Veurne is a city of 12,000 inhabitants in West Flanders. It serves as a central hub for the northern Westhoek region and the Belgian coastal municipalities. The city’s ICT team manages the IT environment not only for the city services, but also for the residential care centre and youth care services.
