SMS/MMS payment services
Paying for a bus or tram ride with De Lijn, voting for the Miss Belgium pageant via text message, football results from your newspaper or ordering a logo or ringtone via an ad in a magazine. These services are offered by an external service provider or premium partner. Orange charges the customer for these services solely on behalf and for the account of the service provider or premium partner.
What do these services cost?
The maximum rates the service providers can charge for premium SMS or MMS numbers have been laid down in the Royal Decree of 27 April 2007.
The service provider is legally obligated to always mention the rate for the SMS/MMS. With subscription services both incoming and outgoing text messages can be subject to a charge. A text message to the abbreviated number 8xxx is always free.
